What is Artleby?
Artleby is an online arts exhibition space where artists can show and sell their work.

How does it work?
Artists, Galleries and Art Organizations can display, manage and edit their portfolios while art
lovers, galleries and buyers can view an artist's work by typing the artist's name in a search
field or browse using search categories or keywords. Members have the option of uploading
work themselves (our basic subscription rate) or having Artleby do it for them on a charge-per-item
basis. Artleby makes it easy for work to be sold online or through an artist's gallery contact.

Why should I use Artleby?

How much do Artleby's services cost?
For Individual Artists:
A one year subscription, payable in monthly $5.00 installments,
will provide you with a portfolio of up to 50 images plus a page
of text for things like a resume, biography, artist's statement etc.
The ability to create multiple portfolio categories according to media, themes, etc.
allows you an easy way to direct your work to a specific audience/market.
If you prefer, you can receive a discount by buying a pre-paid subcription package for $52 / 1year
The personal web site and address, amazingly, is included in this price.

For Galleries/Art Organizations:
A one year subscription, payable in monthly installments is available at different price levels:

There is no limit to the number of artists a Gallery or Arts Organization can represent, and
all subscription levels allow up to one page of text per artist. Galleries and Arts Organizations
have full password control and the flexibility to share it with their artists as well as the ability
to create multiple portfolio categories based on media, themes, etc.

Additional Services:
1) You can send raw digital pictures which we can edit, cropping
extraneous parts of the frame and providing your portfolio with a
polished, professional look. The cost of this service is from $7.00 per image.

2) We can even scan your slides or prints and make them available to your portfolio! The cost of this
service is $17.00 per slide plus the cost of return shipping.

What do I need to know about uploading my work?
If you choose to upload your images yourself, you will probably be working with either digital photographs of
your work or scans made on a flatbed scanner. Recommended resolution range is 72ppi (sufficient for viewing
an image on a monitor screen) to 300 ppi (if you also plan on printing from this file).

Files need to be in JPG(JPEG) format and be 0.5M (500k, 500,000 bytes) or less. The way to determine
the file size using Windows is to:
1) locate the file using "my computer" on your desktop then
2) highlight the filename,
3) Right click the mouse
4) click on "properties" on the drop-down menu. and you see the value in bytes.

If your file is greater than 500,000 bytes or you have difficulty uploading , you should reduce the image size
by using an image editing program, such as Photoshop. Determine whether the width or height has the
longest dimension in pixels and reduce this longest dimension to 800 pixels.

I have files in various sizes and different formats
and I am not familiar with image editing programs. Can Artleby help?

Yes, we have set up a web page that allows you to send your image files to us
without any constraint on file size or type. We then adjust and convert them to
jpeg format and upload them to your password area on the Artleby site.

Can I edit my own portfolio?
Yes, Artleby has been created to be very user friendly and editing your portfolio
is simply a matter of following a set of easy instructions. You would be provided
with a user ID and password to protect your portfolio from unauthorized edits.

Can I customize my portfolio?

Yes. You can customize the background of your portfolio,order
the sequence of your work, include and artist's statement/resume
as well as post announcements about upcoming
exhibitions of your work.

What opportunities do I have to sell my work?
We advertise our subscribers presence using print media, internet search tools.
Artleby facilitates the use of your Paypaltm account with your portfolio if you wish.
Individual artists would use a Paypal Premier Accounttm as this allows credit card sales
while a gallery or arts organization would use a Business Account.
If you need help setting up a Paypaltm account, Artleby can provide you with instructions.
Artleby can also complement an artist/gallery relationship. If a buyer is interested in a
work, we make it possible for you to provide them with the necessary gallery contact
information. Galleries and Arts Organizations may be responsible for processing the
sales of artists' works they represent, similarly, Artleby can facilitate the use of their Paypaltm
account to their portfolio. Note that Paypaltm charges a small fee to process payments.
Artists can also opt to use an escrow service in the sale of their work. An escrow service
is a middle man between buyer and seller who is honest and neutral and only physically
releases the payment from the buyer when the shipment has been delivered
in acceptable condition. Cost is about 5% per transaction.

Can I cancel my subscription at anytime??

Will Artleby ever give or sell my email address or
other personal information to anyone else??

Absolutely not.

Of course. Artleby makes no claim of ownership of any kind of any work posted on its site.
